About Us

We’re Leah & Victoria, a couple from Vancouver Island, Canada. We are passionate about travel, history, and language learning.

Deep Travel is a style of travel in which a visitor seeks to cultivate a meaningful connection with the destination they are exploring. It is a quest for the type of experiences that make one feel more open, alive, and profoundly fascinated by what they are seeing and learning. It is for those who strive to be changed by the adventure, and who want to carry the thrill of it with them long after they return home. We have discovered that immersing ourselves in the history and language of a destination grants us all of that. Leah loves to explore the full story that gives shape to a place and delights in learning and sharing its lesser known facets. Victoria is passionate about connecting with peoples and cultures by learning their languages. This site is where we get to take a deep dive into what has made each travel destination truly memorable for us. We hope that it can serve as a guide that will inspire you to undertake similar journeys, or to help you meaningfully reflect back on the ones you have already taken.

“A mind that is stretched by a new experience can never go back to its old dimensions” (Oliver Wendell Holmes).
